Adapted a large husqvarna mount to the 1050 automatic, 36" bar with full skip mico chisel .404 , cant put the outer bar plate on or it pinches the chain. I'll have to make some custom plates for this bar combination.
Anyway THIS homelite seriously impressed me. It handles the bar and chain of this size no problem. I'll probably be on the look out for more of these saws in the future.

Yup, old 6 cube saws and 36" bars seem perfect for each other.

Its surprisingly hard ! I'm 46 yrs old and work outside every day so I don't believe I'm a weakling,but this saw is gonna make me bring my A game when starting.
One trick is to rotate it just past tdc then pull like you mean it! I learned this from members here and it does help.

I have a couple years on ya but can still hold my own with most saws. This one has been the exception so far. Another thing that helps is pulling it over slowly quite a few times with the choke closed then go for it hard with the choke open to let some air through. Still a little too stout for me most days and doesn't get run much as a result.

Well if I go past tdc too far I just start the process over , a lot of times I can sneak a toe in the handle to open the throttle and that helps me.

I wonder if the stihl elasto starter handle would help? I just ordered one for my 088 , if it's a huge difference I might be tempted to buy one for my homie , should be here by Friday at the saw shop.
Suppose to take the punch out of the compression strokes when pulling it over.

Fed the Homelite some big oak cookies today, she was hungry! Really impressed with the grunt the 1050 has in hard wood I put a 36" skip tooth micro chisel on it and there's no jumpy bog or other hesitation with it.
Log was about 32".

Bad news on the bonus saoxl bow bar saw I got last month, piston is toast and probably the cylinder, but the rest of the saw is physically good. I might try one of those after market p/c kits for it, but its gonna get boxed till then, free saw can't complain.
Bow baw is good also.

Is the compression low? It's hard to tell from the pic but that kind of looks like carbon scoring and not really that bad. I bet it would run like that. I've run some pretty sketchy looking ones.

Compression is bad , sounds like its dying when running and the top of the piston edge looks deformed in places.

Got to use the super 1050A at work today, 3 little pigs got stumped! I did notice cutting on the side that fuel filter placement is important.
I really wish people would stop planting trees next to buildings.

I cleaned it up a couple weeks ago and put it mostly together last night. Few more pieces and it'll be ready to go.

It does need a new sprocket/clutch drum though, the one on it is almost worn through.

I've been looking online and for replacement sprockets it looks like oregon makes one that fits:
Oregon 108567

Can anyone confirm if this will actually work? Seems odd that it would be a 6 pin 3/8 set up.

Looking good!!!! I'm glad it is going to good use.
I will check my C71 to see what the part number is on the drum. I know its 3/8 but that is all I remember about it lol.
