Aside from the mystery steam around the smokestack (i'll deal with that in the spring) things have been going pretty well until last evening... I was emptying the ashes and hit something hard and heavy on the floor of the stove. It was a shaker grate that broke in half!!!! Now large pieces of coals are falling down and blocking me from removing ashes towards the back and I can only imagine it's bad for the bottom and other grates for this amount of heat to me down there. I'm going to order some replacement grates. Has anyone every changed these out? It's not the best time to shut this thing down for maintenance...

Mine were super easy to change out. Honestly, you can do it while it's still running as long as you have something to grab it with. One thing I do now is make sure I flip mine at least once a year to prevent them from breaking frequently.

Yours were the shaker grates like this right? It almost looks like there is a top piece that has to come off first in order to pull them out when I look at a picture of the whole assembly?
