Hello Everyone!
I hope you are all ready for the holidays!

I wanted your opinion. There is a 1988 Ford f700 255,000 miles with a swaploader sl95 for 9k lbs for $10,900. Should I get it?

I recently bought a mini vermeer 650tx so this hooklift would be awesome to have low height loading plus to haul the mini and rayco stump grinder. but the issue is the engine, I think.

It has the Brazilian Ford 7.8 diesel engine. Everything looks very well maintained solid no rust at all even the cab. Any advice here? I'm really tempted to buy it and when the engine goes maybe replace with a Cummings engine? What do you guys think?

It's a score for that price. You can always move chassis if you have a catostrophic failure. Those motors run well just not a powerhouse

Do you have a CDL? I’m almost willing to bet you’d need at least a class B possibly a class A with air brake endorsement.

Great! That's what I needed to hear. I dont neccessary need power as long as it can lift the wood and drive.

No CDL but I could get one. Just too busy. I'm even driving our 35lb bucket truck without CDL shhhh. The truck is juice brakes 25lbs so no CDL needed. I think.

I don’t even know where to start with this one..

Like that truck, though!!
The truck is sweet! I'm really thinking of buying it and if it fails keeping the hoist. Would that make sense as opposed to buying a new one being way expensive? Which I can't afford now of course.

I would just be really careful with that. You do get busted and you'll more than likely be "disqualified" from obtaining your CDL "indefinitely", or something to that effect. I remember they sent me a letter using that wording one time. I can't remember what it was for, but I didn't even have a regular license at the time, which made it sort of humorous. Might have been misuse of plates on a trailer. They don't mess around, is my point! Just saying.

Look it over very carefully. Most of the rolloffs and hooklifts that old that I've looked at have been bandaided back together repeatedly and are pretty well worn out. Look for cracks, b's weld repairs, etc.
