I had found this forum a while ago and have been reading current and past postings. I have to say I'm impressed with the quality of information provided and the wealth of knowledge the members have!

I volunteer my time with the Tahoe Rim Trail around Lake Tahoe as a crew leader building and repairing trails. For years been certified with the Forest Service on chainsaw and cross-cut saws to be able to clear downfall on these trails. Past couple of seasons been going out with new sawyers that have a "A" cert to improve their skills.

To go along with my 10 year old Stihl 362 I just purchased a new Stihl 261c-m, A nice merry Christmas to myself. I also have the use of the Rim Trails 4 chain saws. I also took up the task to off season maintenance of the saws. Multiple users on those saws you get quite a different results on condition. Next season I'll be educating more on proper use and care of saws.

I know you all like pictures as "this post is worthless without them" would pop up, so I added two images of my two saws and Rim Trails together in my shop.

Thanks and I look forward to giving when I can.

I will be posting a help on a 026 venting issue shortly in a separate posting.

Cheers, Patrick

Welcome to AS PATRICK. Looks like you'll have your hands full with winter maintenance. I know there a couple of threads on the 026 vent issues as I have one and watched those threads for tips.

Thanks for the welcome....

Bob those are True North saw covers and I buy mine from Forestry Supply and come in 20", 25" and 28" bar length. https://www.forestry-suppliers.com/product_pages/products.php?mi=83921

Farmer steve posted a help for 026 venting. Well HarleyT..... request noted ;)

Sp47 I do know some stuff but more on the operation side of the saw. The more you know on the maintenance side make the operation side more efficient. I'm learning

If that's you I'm impressed, not as impressed as with the Sarah Shahi picture of course... but pretty good.
Sarah cut the tree down and then took a Pic of me standing with the big Stihl. (Don't I wish!)

Actually, that's one of my logger buddies. He calls on me now and then to help clean up the tops he can't sell with the big logs. We convert the tops to firewood. I also repair his saws. He's converted all his 660's to 661's.

How did you mow through the mush like fibres without clogging your chain .No wonder its turned into toilet paper!
Not easy sometimes. This cottonwood is usually converted by the sawmill. into pallets. If too punky, they chip it into landscape mulch along with the outside slabs. This tree probably had more mush than most because it was hollow right above the felling cut:

Thanks for all the warm welcomes and likes... I've cut some cottonwoods around here and I call them stinky wood. They just have a off smell about them. Thanks for the images.

On the trail we get all kinds of downfall. For me the more complex the better, as most are pretty much ... just laying there to buck up a opening.

More random images... Couple scouting images and yes I take my gal along. most of the time in the past she was my spotter, swamper and EMS if I screwed up.

How would you like your horse staring at a root ball in your face with no great bypass!
