I'm needing to replace the fuel line on my 026 and reading here I found a thread that stated there was a service bulletin to enlarge the opening to the tank for the new hose? The part I got is from a stihl dealer so not a aftermarket problem. It does appear to be at best extremely hard to get seated in as I haven't been able to for fear of tearing it. Just wondering if anyone could provide any useful knowledge or experience you may have on this?

Thanks in advance

I stopped by the stihl dealer earlier today and had him look it up again and he got the same line I have now.

Somewhere I thought there was a post about using the fuel line from an 036. It fits the old smaller diameter hole in the tank and is longer for easier filter replacement? I could be wrong

Is there any advantage or disadvantage using the straight line over the s-shaped line?

It is harder to replace filters with the straight hose. The other issue is that when the straight hose eventually shrinks it will leave the fuel pickup off the bottom of the tank.

Just drill it out and consider it an "upgrade" Didn't know the straight hose was even still available.

Actually, someone showed me a s shaped hose that will work in that hole, but I cannot scrounge up the part number at the moment. A nearby Stihl parts guy showed it to me while I was getting some parts. I haven't tried it, cause I really don't work on much anymore.

Just reviving an old thread with my experience.
I have an older red choke lever 026 that needed a new fuel line. I didn't have a 1121 358 7705 on hand and using the S shaped 1121 358 7700 I had would have required drilling out the tank hole.
The I found that the 1119 358 7701 fit the small hole tank and the longer tank side section made it easier to install the fuel filter.
Win-Win from my perspective

Good to know. Dealer did sell me the curved one but needed the straight. He did get me the straight part number #1121 358 7705 . Drilling it out to make it easy to put the filter would have been nicer.

Old one at the tank bung is ~0.38” and new one is ~.048” and has a curved “S” turn in the tank and the old is just straight.
