Good to know. Dealer did sell me the curved one but needed the straight. He did get me the straight part number #1121 358 7705 . Drilling it out to make it easy to put the filter would have been nicer.

I always upgrade mine partly for this reason. The other reason is that the newer 10mm "s" one will be available LONG after the other one is obsolete and NLA. I am sort of surprised that it is still available today. Saws haven't used this for about 2 decades now.

Old one at the tank bung is ~0.38” and new one is ~.048” and has a curved “S” turn in the tank and the old is just straight.

The difference is Old = 8mm hole vs. New = 10mm hole. I usually use a 15/32" drill. I would rather it be a little tight than a little loose.

Im about to drill mine out. But 10mm is btwn 3/8 and 13/32. 15/32 would be about 12 mm hole.
3/8 = .375
10mm = .394
13/32 = .406
15/32 = .469
12 mm = .472

are you sure the new larger line is 10mm?
I guess i can drill 3/8 and work up if it doesnt fit

Followup - i measured the new fuel line at the grommet/groove, and its 12mm. So 15/32 is correct. But it looks like the tank cant be drilled easily bc there isnt a straight shot through the top of the housing into the tank. Anybody have any tips to drill the hole or ream it out to 12mm?

I don't know what all the fuss is about. I just did one with a carburetor rebuild.Granted the atmosphere was filled with a few choice words related to human anatomy,tools mysterically grew wings and attempted to defy gravity. The dog was hidden under the 4 wheeler during this episode.It was the "S" one but goterdone.

It depends which version of the tank housing that you have. Photos would be useful. Some tanks have a metal "window" than can be removed to facilitate access. I usually stand on the tank handle/housing and then use a hand held 3/8" electric drill to get the hole as vertical as I can. Once you are done try to remove any burrs from the inside and outside of the tank hole.
