There is used 2018 Eastonmade 12-22 in my area for sale. What would be the current value of a machine like that. Owner describes the machine in excellent clean condition. It is used everyday in his firewood processing business so it would have a fair amount of hours on the machine. I would be using it for personal use plus selling a few cord a year to help pay for my own firewood.
I’m asking because he asked me to make an offer and I have no idea what this would be worth used.
Thanks for your input.

Don't know what it's worth, but I'd start by telling him that and then start real low. He knows what he has to get, he just wants to see if you pay him more then that. Plus no matter what you start with, he'll ask for more. That's how every negotiation goes. Doesn't matter what your trying to buy.

Make sure you give it a real close look over before making any kind of serious offer. From all I've read & seen on them on the net, they are very nice rigs - but can also suffer from improper or careless use, as anything can. Something I would especially be very careful of with one that has been used commercially. 2018 isn't very long ago, but damage could happen quickly under the wrong circumstances. Thinking twists or cracks, that might be hard to discern.

Kind of wondering why he's selling - maybe start out thinking 1/2 of new retail price?

What's it cost new? Seems like a good starting point. Next, I would ask how many hours are on the machine. Also, what does it have for wedges?

Cost new is about 10k. 4 way and 6 way wedges. He dosen't know how many hours on the machine.

Truth be told, I've been waiting for a used supersplit. I'd like one of these, but have too many other bills, and responsibilities. Have at it.
Everybody who uses a saw, and stove, dreams of good splitters.
Nate

Based on what little info we have about the hours and overall condition of the machine, I would say 25%-30% off what it retailed for brand new.
