I understand how my pump works on the 5000 but I can’t see the steel pin wearing before the plastic on the pump but if it’s something you’ve encountered before I’d gladly give it a shot. I pulled on the pin a lil bit but didn’t want to ***** it up will it pull straight out and thanks for your reply I really do appreciate any and all the help

Yikes. Maybe they should have used a hardened or thickly chrome plated pin. Must be embedding grit in the plastic and acting like a lap.

I don’t think mines wore like that but dang I’d never expect that to wear over pump plastic thanks for that I guess I could make a new pin on lathe if it’s wore or flip it over

What I've seen is that the groove on the plastic gear that the pin rides in wallows out just a bit, difficult to notice the wear just looking at the part, other than moving it back and forth on the pin.
So because the travel of the piston is so small to begin with it doesn't take much before there isn't much of any reciprocating going on.
Looks like an oversized pin would possibly buy more time on it...

Hello to all my partners. I won a partner R40 100 cc beast tonight. Finally got lucky.
It needs some tlc. I’m missing one more saw.

So I finally got my 5000 oiling with a used pump from another members help in selling me some 500’s and the one 500 had an adjustable pump(that seems odd for a 500) which worked in my 5000 now she’s rocking again so for the fun of it I took my old junk pump out of my 5000 and put it in the 500 and behold it’s pumping oil great in that saw so I can’t see any wear on my pin and makes no sense but I’ll take it they r both working. Thanks again for the help from everybody oh and where’s the picture of that beast huskybill

Just learning and thinking here would a Jonsered 590 cylinder and piston fit on a partner 5000 and would there b any gains to be had from it thanks maybe I’ve been reading to much haha.

It should fit as long as the cylinder bolts line up. It's 45 x 32 rather than 44 x 32 so you would gain about 2cc.

Worth it ? For a new cylinder and piston and everything u need for 50 bucks or just quit dreaming and run my 5000. This dang site makes u wanna modify ur saws maybe I should get on a health forum and maybe it’ll slim me up.

So I have bought a Poulan 325 brother to the 5000 from a member and have been reading through the thread is it the exact same saw as the 5000 or is it more like the jred 590 can’t wait to run it and I’m gonna, rare or not my 5000’s have been beat for 20 years and this saw looks taken care of. Haven’t got it yet but Thanks for any insight.

Yeah I just bought the last 5000 up on eBay without the thyster ignition turned out to b a pretty good saw p&c excellant shape and it was closed port too. But I’m trying to not touch it so I will have parts I don’t need another runner but you know how that goes

Your right every non runner I buy turns out to be a runner. What can you do then?
I think about selling it before I fall in love with it. Then my son comes over and it runs great. A face cord stack of saws.

Lady bug has a few partner saws on eBay.

Yeah mine came from ladybug only thing wrong with saw was the recoil bolt holes were all broke I believe it would have ran if I wouldn’t have torn it apart to check cylinder because it was just a 5000 and not a plus but now I know at least my 5 saws u can tell from the top of the jugs shape the closed port have a 45 degree corner on the top and the open port saws are just rounded off it’s very slight but u can tell at least mine r that way. There was a 650 last week I almost bid on but it had a lot of interest I’m not sure what it sold for or if it met reserve

I have four partner 400’s, probably over 10 different 500’s one p85, one r12 and one r40 to play with. I’m missing a 70.
