New to me Husq. 455 Rancher and 36.

I just picked up a Husqvarna Rancher 455 and a 36, Both saws came with the original owners manuals. Paperwork says the 455 was bought in 1994 and the 36 was bought in 1995. Both need fuel system work and a good cleaning. My plan was to use them both as beater saws.

The three 136 Husqvarna's I had at one time were all really nice... kind of sorry I sold them. Don't know much about the 36 or 455.

What do you guys think of the 455 and 36 saws?
Anything to watch out for on these two particular models?

I don’t recall the 455 being around in the 90s. Did you mean 55? That was around then and is a good saw.

The elderly gentleman who bought it brand new marked the manual "bought in 1994".
When I return home from the library I'll check everything again.

36 and 136 are nearly identical saws. Be interested to see which Rancher you have

Upon closer examination of the owners manual. The guy wrote "bought in 1994" on the front, but if you look on the back of the manual it has a bar code, as well as a print date of 2006. And the manual even smells new with no fading. I'm certain someone accidentally wrote that 1994 date on the manual.

Wish I had time to fire them up and actually cut wood... ya know... enjoy life. At this point my schedule does not permit "enjoyment" of any kind.

I have the Jonsered version of the 455 Rancher (CS2255). It is a good running saw. I run a 20" bar and it does everything I ask of it. It gets heavy after while, but what saw doesn't?

I got my wife a jonsered 2036 a few years back. It should be about the same as your 36. I liked running it. You can get China parts for them dirt cheap.
Keep an eye where the tensioner pin is when installing the clutch cover or they can mess up the cover if it isn’t in the hole.

Also, I just picked up 3 more Echo saws today. Don't know when I'll ever have time to try out the new-to-me Husqvarna's.
