Chatter city, lol.
However a fairly solid fixture on a router might be viable, though you'd likely need a lathe to make it.
Necessity is the mother of invention...
Yeah it wasn't really a suggestion lol. I bet the router table idea is viable though, not that it would be easy. Human ingenuity is an amazing thing to behold.

eBay,
The guy wanted 500 plus 50 bucks shipping.
I offered 450 shipped and he grabbed at it. He had no bids the first time he had it listed.
He Said it only had 2 hrs use. When I got it the bearing in the 90 was shot.
Cost 17.00 bucks for two on eBay with shipping. I couldn’t complain.

Look up post from Chris-PA.
He was active a while ago, tons of information and super knowledgeable guy. I could read his posts for hours.....

Chris Ports “throw away saws” like Poulans, Homelites, craftsman, with a Dremel and a free degree wheel. Search his threads.

I have a similar setup. It is a CC Specialties rebranded one, made by Foredom. The right angle tool is essential for getting at the transfers. Also, the added torque over a Dremel is very desirable. Think I paid $750 for it, about 10yrs ago. Also have a handful of carbide burrs and a Standard Abrasives "porting kit". I've used it on quite a few cylinders and automotive cylinder heads. I used to do snowmobile and PWC stuff.

Which model dremel do yall prefer? I have had several over the years but they was pretty much junk?

Lets not forget JKstihl asked for "Bare minimum tools" needed. I'm sure a lot of us could post pics of our flex shafts and lathes..

I bought a HF dremel and the pencil attachment off amazon while back and it still works great. Only break it now when in a pinch. The amazon package I posted is a good deal even if it doesn't last that long.

I use the 4000 with the extended cable. I put a hook on the side of my bench to hang it from while it runs. If I could go back I would get the 5000 because the extended cable robs a lot of torqu

I have the Dremel Advantage rotary saw kit that I got from a pawn shop. I don't think they make that kit anymore because it came with a bunch attachments plus the rotary shaft. It is 5 amps and has quite a bit of power compared to your basic china rotary tools. It's even made in U.S.A. which is unheard of for electric tools these days lol. I leave it hanging on it's stand attached to my bench and use it all the time.

My "Dremel" is a cheap knock-off from "superior" brand tools, came with the flex shaft and some basic tooling. What I do know was that it only cost $20 Canadian dollars at the time and I have abused the hell out of it and it still works so money well spent in my opinion.

It works well. Had one before I got a Foredom. But it's not as affordable as a rotary tool with pencil attachment. You would still want to buy a smaller hand piece than the one provided. Like a H28 or other detail oriented pieces.

Would I actually be able to change the hand piece out? I don’t have it in front of me. It is on the larger size.....

Yep. Pops right off. Quite a few hand pieces to be had if you wish. It's a standard flex shaft connection....if there is one. I use four different brands. Favorite is the detail pen mastercarver makes.

Good point. CAD types have a habit of getting a bit carried away, haha. I ported my first set of V8 cylinder heads with an air die grinder, a carbide burr, and a Standard Abrasives head porting kit. I was a poor college student. Prob spent $100. The problem with an actual "dremel" is that it doesn't have enough low RPM torque. Most are also only 1/8" collets. Most of my burrs and sand roll attachments are 1/4".

That Harbor Fraud special looks like a good middle ground. Didn't even know they made one. I'd go that route for only $50, plus use a 20% off coupon.

I have the HF one but haven't used it yet. I'm actually still trying to figure what burrs I need...

I use a Dremel from amazon on the chainsaws. I did purchase a air driven porting tool with a hose. I use the 1/8” bits.

I use a b&d 1,000rpm pistol drill to port car heads. I use 1/4” shank bits. With the 1/8” bits this might port faster.
