Im looking to buy a 6 inch chipper but im having a hard time finding a used one i found a 2009 with 500 hours for sale for 9000$ canadian. Thoughts?
Any reviews on a vermeer bc600xl?

I hated using the 6" chipper we had. Have to cut everything down til it's virtually a straight stick.
We have a 9" now that is ok, but frustrating with apple, pine, ash, anything with character.
Also used to run a 12", that was pretty ok, cuz it had dual impellers which crushed the brush down nicely.
We also have a 19", which is not a fair comparison.

Thanks for the reply. Everything bigger than my wrist is cut into firewood. So 6 inch is all i need
Its an insult to the market that vermeer offers a chipper with a miserly 36 square inches of infeed. They think its 1995 still I think
Most modern 6 inch chippers of the last 20 years offer at least 70 inches.
The vermeer is an crappy rental chipper at best. Bandit, Carlton, Greenmech, Forst, Timberwolf, Hansa, Morbark all do much better

I would rather have no chipper vs trying to stuff things through a 6" Vermeer chipper. Having to whittle everything down to where it will feed through one of these absolutely sucks. I'd rather cut brush down in a dump trailer. It would be faster. I owned a bc 625.
A 9"+ chipper is way better at pulling in brush. A 6" bandit might work ok. The larger bandits are wider than their rated size by a good bit. It would be worth a look if you are hung up on a 6" chipper. Remember, just because you cut everything larger to firewood you may not always want to. Pine limbs for instance in our area are bigger than 6" and no one wants them for firewood. They are so bushy they will choke a 6" chipper with a 3" limb.
