Unless it's been swapped, the OE will have an orange clutch cover, the NE will be silver paint that has been rubbed off and looks like crap.

Not always. Some of the NE xpg came with orange covers from factory. This one was owned by a dealer for me to run.

Also came with wrong decal cc size.

I've never seen a NE cylinder with 44.3 printed on the top, but all OE saws have a 42 stamped in blue ink on top.

I have 2 or 3 of each. Love em!
Sadly I only have 1. but I love it. It seems like all of the 3xx magnesium cased Huskies are drying up in the marketplace. They might not be as strong as the contempary models but they had great ergonomics....

Funny. That's an oddball for sure. The 346xpg in my basement has an orange clutch cover too, but it came with grey. I actually swapped it out this morning.

I found the old post from the dolmar solo husky dealer. = I have had a least 5 of the NE 346 xpgs with the orange side covers. I kept one for myself.

How many go up one pin size on the rim? Is there an over speed governor?

i still have two 346xp’s in there cardboard shipping boxes. I did one quick peek and back in the box they went. I have no clues as to what they are.

Decades ago we raced the saws in speed cutting at the local country fairs. We took a stock saw any size husky saw and plugged the govenor in the carb, went up one or two pins on the rim size, probably spent hours sharpening the chain. Removed the spikes so when we bored holes it didn’t go in so fast it drew the spikes deep into the wood.

With the newer saws I’m not sure about a rpm govenor or a limiter that can be changed.

My fastest time with a 2100/100cc husky was 17,5 seconds that’s 8 cuts. We did two slices down, two slices up, bored two holes without breaking out, one cut down, one cut up in 17.5 seconds. I think the timbers were pine around 10”x10”. With a 16” bar with 404” chain and the rakers around .050”/.060” per raker. The gullet was hogged out.

I raced three classes of saws, a ’80’s all metal husky 240 pro that raced the bigger 032 stihls, the husky 266se and husky 2100.(100cc) pro. Having the firewood business at the time I started using the 2100 with the shorter bar for felling and bucking. From standing timber to on the ground bucked up in 50 minutes for a cord of hardwood.
