I purchased this stihl ms250c that was damaged from a tree. Hopefully I can get it fixed and make a profit!? All said and done I hope to be into this thing for under 100$

Dumped some gas down the carb and it runs.

Let me know your thoughts!

Dumb? No, never- if you learn from it.
What is a used 250 worth on Ebay?
Is under $100 including the purchase price?
Are you intending to use Farmertec part to rebuild? OEM parts might command a higher sale price.
Best thing to do would be go over it with a fine tooth comb as you pull it apart and see what all is actually busted up in there- might run now- but might not for much longer depending on what is busted.
Make a shopping list of parts and price it up- then decide if it is worth the hassle for a small homeowner saw.

Yes 100 including the purchase price. I plan to use an oem handle assembly. I found a good used deal on eBay. I plan to check everything and fix what is necessary but to my understanding it was a running saw up until the tree crushed the handle. It fired up and ran on some mix gas. Maybe a carb clean is all it needs...we’ll see!

Took the saw apart today and looked inside. The cylinder and piston look clean with no scuffing. I did notice the gas tank vent nipple broke off so I guess I will have to try to superglue or plastic weld it back on. Got a new handle assembly coming this week to hopefully get this girl back up and running.

I’m not sure how I would make that work since that line feeds into the primer bulb

Then it is not a vent

It actually is a vent. The hose runs to the primer bulb then to carb and then to the vent. It’s a weird design. Probably just going to glue it and weld it

Not trying to compare apples to oranges. Just trying to look at it from Harry Homeowners perspective. I can get a brand new MS 170 for $159, I don't think I'd go much more for a rebuilt, crushed saw, that's been patched up. Unless you plan on cleaning it up real nice and not going into the salvage part of it?

I think you guys are losing perspective on what actually needs fixing. The handle assembly is the ONLY thing stopping this saw from being worth $180-200. I sold an 025 a month ago with a rebuilt motor for 160. This one will be all OEM parts. The motor is in great shape and It ran before taking it apart... why would I tear it down when likely nothing needs replacing. The tank return nipple is solid it’s not glued it’s plastic “welded”. I was going to drill and tap in a barb but it’s not that crucial and unless the next owner has the same incident it won’t be a problem. I guess we’ll see. It’s a great saw and a lot more saw that a 170 or 180. Maybe I’m wrong.
