Only hazardous removals during Coronavirus?

Governor Wolf has closed all non essential businesses in PA. His list is somewhat vague.

I have some work scheduled for otherwise healthy trees but I'm considering just doing dead trees and hazard type work, which I would consider "essential"... I've got about 80 dead/dying trees to do at a golf course which would keep us busy for a bit. Not sure if that counts as "essential" since they aren't affecting people's homes or otherwise life-sustaining activity.

What are you guys doing?

Sounds essential to me...those trees only get more dangerous as they wait. For you and the patrons..there WILL be golfers.

I would just do the work. Why not, you’ll be outside and have to maintain falling distances anyway, so wth. What could possibly be wrong with that? Seriously.

this whole shutting the world down thing is totally out of hand. It‘s a power-struggle at the top and has nothing to do with a virus, IMO. That is just a convenient excuse. Yup, release a mild virus and shut the world down with media fear mongering and skewed information. The future population control implications are frightening. So are the economic implications for the average man. This is the tip of the iceberg. Everybody should say **** this and get back to work while we protect the old folks with REAL quarantine methods, not just the illusion of quarantine.

Health, safety, environment trumps all. The illusion of health, safety, and environment. They have been conveniently elevated over the past 20yrs or so to dire concerns that trump law and freedom. And all us sheep are just buying in..

So just pull the “safety card“ and “safety” that golf course.

I'd print that letter and bring it with you. If somebody questions your need to be out, you'll have that.

I have applied for the exemption from the PA cease work order. Who knows if it will go through or not. My wife talked to the state and the lady didn't really know for sure but said it would probably be OK to do emergency work.

Just stay home, like you are being asked to do.

If you have an accident or an on the job injury you are putting a lot of other folks at risk. Response personnel are already stretched to the breaking point. Do the responsible thing.

We’re trying to figure it out as well. Ohio was just announced so we are looking into it. It’s clearing season for environmental reasons and we’re working primarily for a utility company till the end of March. I’ve just been felling for the last few weeks with one other person on site. His job is to call if something bad happens. Sits in his truck or walks around out of harms way. I’d like to keep working but if it comes back that we’re shut down, I’ll gladly stay home. My garage might actually get cleaned out this year

I'd go out to do a hazard tree, but work that is for vanity or scheduled maintenance can wait. Hey if I can get some extra time to chill I'll take it-- helps offset the times when hours are long!

I'm in Nova Scotia, the premier declared a state of emergency. Made it illegal to gather in groups of 5 or more or be closer then 6ft with severe fines $1,000 for individuals $7500 for businesses so I've shut down in light of that laid off staff and am only doing hazard trees that pose an immediate risk to persons or property.

Just not worth it for me to keep going

Better safe then sorry. Might keep your crew from picking up the virus let alone getting a fine. If you have things paid off i would think it shouldn't be extremely difficult. Stay healthy.

Governor Wolf's exemptions now include "services to building and dwellings" and "landscaping."

Im still hesitant to do routine stuff or removing otherwise healthy trees but we may be off the hook

I think the most exposure I will have will be stopping for fuel. Other than that exposure should be relatively low since we will be outside working.

Well I’ve decided that if things don’t look better in a week ( end of bat season) I’m laying myself off. I see nothing pressing about chipping tops, hauling logs, or grinding stumps. The clearing I was on yesterday was shut down. It was for a new cancer center at a hospital. They decided they have enough going on that construction can be delayed for a few months. I took that as a sign that nothing is more important than isolating ourselves.
