I had no trouble getting them in the bore on the piston just popping in 1 side in and then use a wooden pick to pop in the other side and done. It's done many many many tanks of fuel since like quite a good few hours. Until the clutch got crook it came on every wood trip and still going good as gold. Todd gave me the ring gap specs from an oem set he measured.

Now you could in theory tighten up that gap for more go go but it will be mean on the pulley so I never did.

My favorite wooden pick is to sneak a couple kebab skewers from the kitchen there quite strong can be sharpened up again and again.

guessing i just got impatient plus old fingers plus being screamed at from the back door plus tying to install without gasket ad infinitum. bottom line, not enough hands and i got tired of fooling with it. will keep it in mind for another, future ocassion.

I have never objected to someone doing just this, its not the same as what I was speaking of. As for the knowledge, there used to be a lot of very knowledgeable people here but have been driven away from here from the BS. I'm losing interest real fast again.

I have been to other forums, including beg for manuals, with no response. That is why I asked here, as a last resort. I have spent my life fixing things, sometimes for people I don't like, but because it was broken and I wanted to see it working. I don't know why you got off about me, I just asked a question. I didn't attack you and even thanked you for the PDF.

You were given the link to the beg for manuals thread, but you never posted in it to ask for a manual. If they would not have had it, Ray would have probably sent me a message to see if I had it.

You do know that anyone can go to your profile and look up the post's you made? So your response here is false.
Your post sounded a bit demanding to me but I posted the manual anyway didn't I ?
You then replied that you intended to come back here if and when you found you needed parts you would come back here to ask for parts.

I take that as rude.

Thanks to all for the kind remarks. I understand I'm classified as a newbie on this site, because I don't have many posts. I am on numerous and varied forums, and don't respond unless I can ADD to the conversation. I dont type fast so I don,t enter idle chatter to forums on a daily basis, so for me to get thuousands of posts it would take me decades.
If someone has a question, I have years of experience as a mechanic in motorcycles, snowmobiles and my dabbling in my ten plus chainsaws.

And I thanked you for the PDF, didn't I? The comment about the parts is from my respect for the general population of this forum as being knowledgeable and friendly if I need some help. I have not been disrespectful to you, even though you have tried to insult me on several occaisions.

I'm staying neutral on this. I like all you guys and hate to hear the spat. I know times are tough right now but it will get better. I was asked today if I wanted to take leave from work for awhile and I turned them down. I'm felt needed and people will need their cars going. Too many rookies in the shop, me and another tech is scared to turn them loose. If we weren't here, they would be calling us up to try to solve a problem over the phone. I don't want to be cooped up in the house, I'd go nuts.

I'm glad I no longer have a essential job anymore. I used to have to go in the worst dang snow storms etc.

Now my son said they got some new lab equipment at his hospital where he must report to work. He was suppose to go to NY for training on it for QC purposes. So glad he didnt have to go up there right now. They canceled it.
So far only 1 staff in his hospital has to be tested to check on.

Crazy times.

Your mentioning Nik reminded me that I still have his Poulan 4000 with the blued bar on it. Pretty.
