I'm repairing all the broken items on my 038. Installing a rim sprocket instead of a spur sprocket. Thought it would be as easy as my MS 170. Hand trouble getting everything apart, but I did.
All the oil is not normal is it? I'm in the process of cleaning everything up at the moment. It feels like there is a gasket/bushing around the oil flow regulator (coming from bottom of saw). Is that true or is it just gunk buildup?IMG_9207.JPGStihl Oil Pump.jpgStihl Oil Pump.jpg

I think that gasket or ring is part #000 989 040. Can anyone tell me how to replace it? I really didn't want to remove oil pump, is it really necessary? I saw a video and it looked difficult to remove. I don't mind if it leaks a little oil.

Post some pics when you have cleaned it, is there a hole in the center of the plastic gear down to the axle in the oil pump?
