Hello all! First time post here. My dad gave me my grandpa’s Huskvarna 266xp that is in need of a coil. I’ve googled the part and have found plenty of China parts but no original. I’m reaching out for help finding a good replacement 2 piece coil. Thanks in advance! Good day!

If you can't find an OEM, then I would get the aftermarket....I've been using the China parts for several years on chainsaws, snowblowers and lawntractors and have not been unhappy with the quality except in one instance with a cylinder/piston for a Husky 51....and it was so cheap I just wrote it off and ordered another one from a different vendor. You can then be using the saw and if the coil fails, you got the OEM for a spare!

Seems to be near impossible to find parts not made in China. That’s why I came here searching... if all else fails I’ll be forced to buy Chinese parts...lol...
thanks for the reply cranman!

Coils are not internal combustion chamber or crankcase parts and as such I imagine the AM ones from China will be fine and you can possibly buy a dozen or more of them for the price of a single OEM unit...... if you can find an OEM new unit.
Coils, electrics, plastic covers, sprocket/clutch covers etc are all fine to use AM for- they have been making electronics over there for a good long while- generally they make some pretty good stuff in that line.
If an AM coil set gets the saw up and running, you can use the saw while you search for an OEM one.

Never thought of it that way! Thanks for the reply Bob!

I've used a couple of the Chinese two piece coils and they worked fine. They might not last like an OEM one but you have to take what you can get.

Lol... that is true! Glad to hear you have had success with the aftermarket coils. Thanks Ronie!

Or you could use 281/288 coil setup with a custom bracket, im not convinced with AM coils. But thats just me, always use oem wires regardless of ignition setup

I’m not familiar with saw mechanics but am capable of working on one. How would I do this? Do you have any pictures of this being done? Thanks for the reply!
