Does the Partner5000 have a reed valve? I has the engine top end totally disassembled but it still will not rev up. New carb kit etc. Piston, ring and cylinder excellent. I am wondering if someone took it apart and left the reed valve out. Repairing it for a friend.

Wouldn't even start if a reed valve was missing. Does the throttle linkage actually open the throttle butterfly to full open position? Have to give us more info on "won't rev up". With the throttle wide open does it speed up enough to get the chain moving or does it bog and quit as soon as you go up from idle?

Throttle opens completely. I have re paired dozens of chainsaws in the past few years and repaired at least 100 Walbro and Zama and Tillotson carbs in the past 5 years. I am going to try a different carb as I have at least 2 dozen extra carbs in my collection.

If it's like my Jonny 590's there is no air boot. ? There is a plastic partition with an impulse nipple.
There is that rubber band that seals the intake partition spigot to the spigot on the cylinder.
The little rubbery tube thingy that seals the impulse between partition barb and cylinder can also be a usual suspect for leakage.
As the barb is tapered, a quickie fix is to just flip the seal around and put it in the opposite way.

Thanks. I will check both.

The impulse grommet/tube is a common issue on these. You have to remove the plastic intake to check. Inspect the rubber intake band also. I usually use a little dirko to seal the band. Both are available through husq.

Wow, Arrowhead glad to see you back. Don't think I've noticed you post in years. Always appreciated you sharing your knowledge.
