Whats the deal with these knock offs and how do they get away with it?

If people keep buying cheap parts etc, why would they want to improve on quality when they are raking it in, we have a society that expects low quality as being the norm. - they have the technology but like I said why would they bother.
Yup, throw away America. Buy cheap and expect failure. Throw it out and buy another. Makes me sick to my stomach. I’d rather pay 3x as much and not have to deal with the headache of constant problems.

These clones are not all terrible, in many cases there is one part that causes a problem and makes them look bad. The ms440 kits have had bad rod bearings for a few months, a few tanks in it lunches. Ive seen 660 kits go 2 years regular milling and wear out rings but the piston and cyl are normal wear...its hit and miss, thats the gamble on a saw 1/4 the cost of the real thing

You just don’t get the point.

Perhaps the major corporations shouldn't have outsourced production to China?

there's a ton of asian parts in nearly everything you buy. Even if it's "made in Germany" or the USA, or anywhere.

that computer or phone you're typing on; where was it made? And by whom?

Same old rhetoric. I heard it a thousand times and then some more. It’s because we got no other choice. This is their plan for global takeover.

What happened when this Covid ******** broke? Couldn’t get the necessary **** we need. Bring all manufacturing home and cut off China!

Oh damn! You’re a foreigner, screw you too! Mexico is before you in the USMCA! Lmao!

EPA should be doing their job, not pissing around with small engine regulations.

They should be doing something about chemical farming, for one thing. Now there's a mess that needs to be cleaned up. Idiots.

If EPA didn't force manufacturers into building ever more complex things, perhaps prices could stay at a point where the Chinese competition would simply not be attractive.

the EPA misdirects the public's focus from where the real problems lie.
FDA for chemicals in food, not EPA. Before you even say it, show me the chemical run off that’s doing harm. The EPA has done enough damage to farms and forestry through bureaucratic fiat already.

That’s not the point. The fact is Stihl HAD to re- engineer their large saws to meet emission standards. What’s going on is no different than the Chinese building a brand new 1990 Impala and sending to a U.S. retailer . Every part on that car has long been out of patent protection but it wouldn’t be legal to sell it here. These clones should be stopped at customs and crushed. The Chinese and their co- conspirators here should loose every dime they’ve got into these things.

yikes! I didn't know there were such strong feelings! not planning on buying one, just caught my eye..never been a store brand fan. and as to the ruger SR 1911 being an improvement over the colt..I whole heartedly agree. in fact I think mine has it well over the Kimber match 1911 my friend paid about 1700 for
Oh yes, I've seen some very heated discussions over these Asian saws. I bought one of the Husqvarna 365/372 parts kits just to see what it was all about. The decomp was junk and one oring was missing, those I used OEM. The rest is completely chinese kit parts. The thing runs awesome. I was very surprised and pleased with it.
As far as the 1911, Ruger did everything right on that one. Everything Colt should have done.

During WWII the US government stole Stihls design and built knock offs for military use ,they abandoned the practice after the war.
I look at what Husqvarna brand did to Poulan ,McCulloch, and other great American saw companies and felt no pain in buying a 372xp knock off ,But hey I don't begrudge others for their higher moral beliefs , its just that everyone has been guilty of patent infringement in some for or another .
If you don't want to support China thats cool I'm not big on them subjugating Tibet and exiling the Dali Lama, kind of a dirty deal.
