Back a while ago I posted about a 10-10A I have that when trying to start it I had to pull on the throttle trigger for it to start.MS told me that there should be a boss on the handle for a throttle lock & sure enough there is.It was already threaded so I just screwed in the throttle lock. The thing is is that it doesn't engage with the trigger.Did Mac make different length throttle locks for their saws? The one I put in came out of another 10-10A.

I would think that just about any fine thread number 8 machine screw would work. Screenshot_20201021-171532_Drive.jpgScreenshot_20201021-171757_Drive.jpgScreenshot_20201021-171838_Drive.jpg

Also take into account all of the Homelite Xl12/superXL saws still around and running, all reed valve saws.

And the XL12 is on my want list of saws, especially if I can find the same model as the one that was in "The Evil Dead".

There are a couple red and black XL12 on feebay now if you want it the same down to the color scheme, but they're asking too much IMO. Evil Dead II and Army of Darkness were XL - smaller saw, top handle, probably a lot easier for Bruce to swing around.
"Typical" XL's (and SXLs) are pretty much always there in both red and blue/white. I really do like the SXL, barks about as loud as a Mac (but differently) and typical old school grunt.

Since we're off topic, every now and then I look for an old school Poulan, Texas Chainsaw Massacre style. Seems that the one used in the movie was a 306 with some 245 parts. Guess I'll just have to get both. :)

To get back on topic, TCM Next Gen was a Mac 700. I've got a couple 7-10, but a 700 will also be mine one day!

1981's "The Evil Dead" Not the "Evil Dead 2" or "Army of Darkness" which looked more like a (crappy prop) Super 2.
I think for a certain generation, this was the saw that started it all*... Like the genesis of CAD.

edit: ah, I see vizette beat me to it. :)

*It was "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre" for me. "TCM: The Next Generation" was what started the McCulloch thing.
(The next generation was a horrible film though. The only worth while thing was the McCulloch, and McConaughey's character)

Yeah that's the one....like Vizette pointed out, they used some kind of modified prop saw in the second 2 movies with the weird wooden handle. I love the fact I'm not the only one here that loves those movies, haha.
I keep an eye on the local classifieds for one of those XL12's...

So the second 610 is back together and up and running. This is the one that had vegetable oil???? In the oil tank. I was even able to get both auto and manual oilers working!!! Just need to get a 20 inch bar and chain and she will be good....... I must have the biggest collection of 16inch Mac bars on the east coast!!!!! Seems every Mac i get has a 16 on it!!!! And 18s on the large frame saws.
I can't understand a 16inch bar on a 60cc saw.

Haha tell me about it! "Yeah let me have the pro mac 700 ahhh with a 16" bar." ????
I've got a good collection of the hard nose bars too.
20" is about the longest bar I see around here, even with the state workers saws.
When I purchased a 28 for work at a park I worked on everyone was amazed by it.
I almost feel awkward using a 16" now.

Yup, the shortest I like for regular use is a 20, too much bending with a 16 and an 18 just seems like a awkward in between size too me. Really, my go to is a 24, seems to be about perfect for me.

Kevin,I'm with you 100% on this one - I can't understand why they put puny bars on a 60cc saw either.Been sayin' it for yrs.now.A 16 in.bar is for limbing on a smaller cc saw, even smaller than the 10 series saws which are mostly 54cc.I guess with a smaller bar on a bigger cc saw the folks can brag how their saw really "kicks ass".Lol

I've got a 16 on my tired 7-10. Its great for scruffy macro limbing work. Very maneuverable very little gyro effect very light especially with a 7-10 and no brake. You can poke it in all sorts of places. I sold my 350 and it replaced it more or less. Horses for course's though. I quite like 20s as an all round bar for a 1 saw plan can still poke it around yet 40 inch cuts if cant be bothered going to grab a bigger saw
