So good news. The 4200 is still available. Plotting to try and go get it.

edit: he’s moving further away so there’s a timeline on this. Gonna try and get it Monday.

Curious, it’s bigger than a 3700 but how does it stack up in comparison? It’s the model before they came out with the 3400/3700/4000 and looks like it turns slower RPMS. As mentioned I wasn’t really looking for anything as I have the Poulan 3700, a stihl 041, and a husky 372. Don’t cut a ton to really justify a 4th 60cc+ saw but for a classic poulan it’s hard to pass up. Regardless my poulan 4218 is getting the boot either for parts or give it one more try to get started and running well (I said that last time).
the 4200 is an incredible saw. I ran one for 30 years as a homeowner. I lost mine in a barn fire. I replaced it with another one. The reed valve motors on these saws make them pull like a diesel engine. Way above their pay grade. The 3400/3700/4000 saws are good but don't have the grunt of the reed valve saws. The 4200, 5200 and 8500 are the best saws I have ever used. But then again, what do I know.

Well the buyer fell through. But it’ll probably sell today. I’d love for someone else who has the know how and time be able to get it to restore it.

Just sold to someone in South Dakota. Part of me regrets it a little but I have so many other projects without digging into this saw. Off to a good home!

Plus I need to focus on clearing trees and splitting wood now more than fixing saws. Getting ready to build an addition so that’s mega priority too.

It was his. Same pics anyways. 4200. I know the guy in SD. Sold him some stuff in past years.

4000's been running 50-125 right now on FB. Seems like market wave of them for some reason.

This showed up today. Don't recall ever seeing many posts about the 6900. Fuel line was shot but fired up after 2 pulls with fuel down the carb. Looks like it had a rough life being owned by the city of Baltimore. I have IPL and repair manual for my 5200. Much difference in the 2? Thanks. FS.

Pretty rare saw, most of the wear is probably from riding around in the back of a truck though, piston and cylinder are probably like new unless it was straight gassed.

P&c don't look the best but then neither does the rest of the saw. Being optimistic at this point.
