Yes was actually thinking about one. This handle does have a good dent/flattened spot on the recoil side, so it's due for replacement. I don't remember do these short covers need trimming to fit it?
I think you have the cover that will not need trimmed. There were a few different short side covers. From the picture it looks like yours is already open on the bottom. I may be wrong though. If it needs trimmed, magnesium is very soft and easy to work with.

Joe - Make sure the flywheel side bearing is pressed all the way on to the crankshaft. I had one recently with a slight gap between the bearing and the crankshaft and the counterweights would contact the crankcase in a certain spot.

Thanks, Mark. It has to be something along that line. I can turn it fine in the head, and fine in the crank case, but when I put them together I get the little tap. I’m going to check the grove the snap ring locks into and make sure it’s clean with no burrs that might be pulling it out of square when torqued. Will check the bearing again also.

Did you get the part where the rod and piston are at TDC? There is a short span were the crank journal is moving, but the piston is not? Is that normal?

Check to make sure you have all of the rod bearings back in place (should be 20 needles) and also make sure the bearings in the piston are tight. There is always a bit of crankshaft rotation where the piston movement is minimal at TDC and BDC but I don't think it is normal to be able to feel any clunk.

Bob Johnson (607 638 9297) had some NOS rear mounts (93925) available for under $20 each, you can turn one into a front mount by knocking the nut inserts out. I could check with him next week if you are interested in going that route. Bob probably won't want to mess with international shipping but I would be willing to pack them and send them along if you are interested.

Thanks @Jethro 2t sniffer, I’m going to take Mark up on his offer and see if I can get him to include one of his flywheel sawdust screens for my 70cc frankensaw :) (more on this later).
@heimannm, thank you for offering to send me the AV bits (if available), I’ll send you a PM to work out the details!

My friend picked up his first Mac.....

100nz lol so like 65 bucks. Its very tidy needs a going over and some love but wicked compression its pretty much just like the 850 I payed 500nz for. The bugger. But very happy too as I get to work on it and another mac guy down the road

I don't know how you get such nice looking saws with all the paint still on.The ones I end up getting have the paint missing like they've been left in the forest for 20 yrs.Lol.

An ideas for the best place to source a clutch cover for a LH start 10-10 (without a brake). I am in Australia so I need someone who will ship. I was given the saw as parts, but it didn't take any time to get going so I hate seeing it missing parts.
I popped the question for ya:

Sounds a bit expensive (NZD). Let me know if you would like help getting this.

I think I may have found the problem. I took it to my auto mechanic and he said the piston is off center. I said yes they are. He said I think you have it on the crank backwards. I said no way. I checked ten times. I took it home, holding the piston in my hand, with the crank hanging down, the EX on the piston was on the exhaust side of the cylinder. Then I swung the piston down, and slid it in the cylinder, and the EX was on the intake side. I’m dyslexic, I can read almost as fast backwards as I can forwards, which is slow. But, looking at some thing right side up, and then up side down, give me a fit. I’m going to flip the rod around and see what it does.

North East Tennessee MAC Report

Beautiful evening in North East Tennessee, especially nice when there is a little MAC action for Blind Squirrel Falling. I cut for a little over an hour with an off-brand before I reached a MAC worthy tree. Little free advice, when you tell yourself a chain is sharp enough to do, it probably isn't. PM800 literally chewed it way through the red oak below. The root pull is one consequence of not cutting fast enough; fortunately, it didn't take my MAC for a ride.

The MAC tree is the larger red oak in the center - about 40" dbh. Several 18" to 24" red oaks put on the ground with the off-brand. The 30" red oak in the foreground I cut some weeks ago with the 800.

The MAC tree - it will make a lot of firewood.

Saw was moved - so don't scratch a hole in your head trying to fit the above picture with this one.

There is no way my little Deere is going to pick up log lengths of this tree.

About six or so this size left to be cut. I will take care of that chain in the meantime.

Be safe,
Ron

There aren't any. My out dated computer is having fits tonight scrolling multiple pictures. I thought I caught the glimpse of a Super ProMac 850 thus the decal comment. Nonetheless the condition of that saw looks rare.
Ron

Ahhh I see i see. Funny thing though the super 850 seems to be very plentiful down here I know of 3 or 4 now
