I know this is a chainsaw site, but I am having problems with my fs110 4-mix trimmer. Was going to run it this weekend and it wont start it was started about a month ago. Now it will just pop once in a while I always use stihl hp and 93 octane(no alcohol). Tried new plug, new fuel ,seems to be getting fuel and has spark. I have read that some early 4-mix had bad ignition modules where they would stick in the advanced setting and not start, could this be the problem. If any one has any tsb's on this or anyway to test any info would be helpful. Or would it have to go to the dealer to be tested.

Thanks
P.s. the trimmer is about 3-4 years old but very low hours 30-40 hr.

Have you adjusted the valves and checked the exhaust port for carbon buildup? I heard there were recalls for bad ignition modules on these when they first came out where it sparked ok, but the module timing was off.

Check for carbon build up, is it hard to pull over then possibly carbon buildup. If you have a good dealer nearby have them look at the coil. The laminate on the coil was falling apart when it would get hot and would not work properly, this has since been fixed but it should be covered under warranty if that is the issue which it sounds like it could be. The other senario is that you have left fuel in the unit and it turned bad. Good luck.

Thanks as always for the information,I have tinkered with alot of saws, mowers, ect, ect, and this has me baffled. Usally I can figure out most problems at least to make them fire alittle.Thats why I was checking here about that module thing. I am going to double check things, than check with the dealer on getting the module checked and or replace hopefully under warrenty.

Thanks
