After work today stopped in at my local Husky Dealer and started looking at bigger saws. Currently I'm stuck in the 60 cc range with the MS 361 and my redone Husky 261 with the 262XP jug and piston. Both run great but - with this place you can never have too many saws!!

Well to my suprise my dealer had the New Edition 575 XP on the shelf - 5.8 hp14.5 lbs, set up with a 20" 3/8 bar and chain, as well as a few 372 XP's with 20" bars as well. The 372 is about $20 cheaper.
He just returned from a Husky meeting and his distributor said Husky will continue the 372 here through the balance of this year. He also said all XP's will be getting the Grey/silver clutch cover as the year progresses according again to the distributor.

Well here's my dillema - I'm thinking about going all Husky again and that means probably selling my MS 361 thats only 6 months old and getting either the 372XP or trying the NE 575XP. The Stihl's been great and has only had about 8 tanks through it but my rebuilt 261 Husky really hauls the mail now with the 262XP jug and piston. It's a tough decision.

So, what's your question? Is this a "what do I do now" question?

Sell the stihl, sell the 262, buy the 372xp (W if you can get one there, 74.6cc instead of 70), and buy a NE346xp. The 372 is too close to the 262 and the 361 isn't a trim saw unless you're in the PNW, then you're "trimming" 15" stuff.

Go with the 372xp. The 575xp has some issues that need to be addressed and has been reworked already. I like the Stihl 361 but with a 70cc saw you can use a 28" bar when needed and run an 8pin sprocket with smaller bars. The 372xp is one of the smoothest saws ever very little vibrations and has a quick reving engine that loves to scream at the upper rpms. I own one and it will never be sold ever.

I already own the NE346XP - I really like the 261/62 as it's the first saw I rebuilt thanks to everyone on this site! I'm not sure if the 372 XP that was there was the XPW model (actually 75cc) or if it was the smaller 70cc version.??

I guess it would be easier to decide between the 372 and 575 if someone who has run the latest NE 575 version could report on how it performs, and what they felt about it.

I will say the 372 felt better in the hand than the 575 in the store -a bit lighter and more trim. Both had the large air filter set-ups and 20" bars.

You dont need to be all Stihl or all Husky, you CAN have both. However the 361 would be the saw to sell, as you can probably get $400 for it. Also the 262XP has more power than the 361 anyways.

I can't believe you are thinking about buying the 575XP if you have been reading here at all. Its crap until it proves otherwise. Buy the 372XP.

Has there been any real feedback on the 5.8HP 575XP saw yet? I don't think I've seen any after Husky took the mulligan.

We are still waiting to hear about the autotune 575xpne that feature alone would keep me away from an 575xp. It seems to have improved specs but I think they blew it with the 575xp.

If your 361 only has 8 tanks through it and looks nice you should get over $500 for it on ebay. If I was buying a husky and my choices were the 575 or the 372 I would definately shoot for the 372.

I would get the 372. Soon or later the 372 is going away and you may regret not getting a new one while they were available. If the 575NE gets good reviews and you decide you still want one, it will still be there.

Nope, but I dont think nikocker wants to be a test mule. Maybe he does?

Well that's just it.

I don't recall anyone really running one of the NE models - however the older versions were run through mill here on this site. If it were not for the fact that there IS a new version I wouldn't even be considering it.

The 372XP is legend in it's praise and would definitely fill the bill. However I'd like to see Husky get the 575 right this time, they're too good a company and generally make too good of saws to have the stigma of the prior 575XP hanging around.

Get the 72.. it's a known quantity. The NE575 might be a torque monster and it might just be Turd v2.0

Tough yes, but I think you are the best judge youself, regarding what you need....

I don't think you will find much feedback on the NE575xp - you are in fact the first one I have seen reporting to even have seen one in the US.

...and you need to keep that 361 hostage, in case the Stihlheads attack you.....  :ices_rofl: :rockn:
