2100

Are you guy's trying to make me buy a that 2100xp my dealer has? They must be a true BEAST of a saw huh? If I do get the one my dealer has it needs rebuilt(it's tired, barely beats a 066). If I get it I'm going to put a new top end in it and set the squish to .020. Would it be a monster? I'm looking for something that can pull a 36" bar w/full comp with authority. Just so I can play with the big trees when I run into them. Not that I need it I just want it........lol:greenchainsaw:

I'd like to see a stock 2100 piston that someone tried to run at .006 squish......you guys must have some serious fuel down that way

The piston had some work done to it. It was running VP 119 octane leaded gas. It was only run for a three cut race. It was not intended for a work saw.
The 395 has .022 squish and has more conservitive port timing. It is just a really strong work saw. I ran 100 octane av gas and bumped the ignition timing up for the race.
We ran the same bar and chain, and the 395 out cut it by several tenths, but to be honest I think the saws where very close on power, the difference was in cutting technique.

I think you answered your own question.
"They must be a true BEAST of a saw huh?"
"It need rebuilt (it's is tired, barely beats an 066)."
In stock form I am not suprised that they out cut a 395 and an 066, In fact I would be suprised if they didn't.
If you lower the cylinder to get .020, make sure you reset the ports, and while you are at it go ahead and widen them up a little. Also .020 might be a little tight for an every day work saw on a 2100. It is not absloutley needed as it puts the squish velocity well past ideal. Air flow is more important than raw compression.

I bought a 2100 CD off craigslist a few weeks ago. It needed a fuel line and brake band; Baileys sent me the wrong fuel line but it worked well enough to get some action out of the saw.

I dropped a 18" white ash with the 2100 and bucked it some. I then got out a 2007 model 395xp that I purchased last winter (first time using it). The 2100 beat the 395 hands down. I was very surprised by this.

The 395 is going to get a ported muffler shortly; getting beat is not allowed!

I am going to put an 8 pin sprocket on the 2100. Do you think the clutch will handle an 8 pin with 24" bar in oak?

Yup, thats pretty normal. The 2100 is one BAAAAD saw. Huskys flagship before the 3120XP. Parts are getting tougher to find but they are always worth fixing.

Not disagreeing (never ran a 2100) but I will say my 395 got much stronger over maybe 15 tanks. I was a little disappointed when I first bought it power wise as I already had an 066. In the end they became about equal.
I was gonna post this same info, saw racing doesn’t mean anything until the engine is broken in.

Like all of those videos of a 562 versus 372, or 550 versus 550mk2, it’s always the same thing. One brand new out of box saw versus one that’s been broken in or abused.. not really comparing apples to apples imo

Point well taken, when my 385xp and 575xp were new it took cutting about ten cords each, we ran both saws at the same time. I remember my older saws didn’t need breaking in. Both they are two totally different saws now.

I also consider the 480, 285, 298, 1100, 2100, 2101 the Husqvarna big block saws. The crankcase housing is super sized. I think stock vs stock the 2100 will whoop everything. But it depends who has the most torque and higher rpm in the cut? I ran the 2100 for many decades she’s a brute and abused a lot of wood. I did purchase a new 394 but it wasn’t a 2100.

I wonder if the emissions there trying to meet, in changing these newer saws over to will hurt the performance?
