Yes it's ported, and I'm pretty happy with it. Here's another vid of it in super hard Beech. 32" B&C in both vids BTW.

It will take a 660 or 395 to run with that saw. She is getting it pretty good. Those 7900s when done right are sweet.

A stock 660 or 395 won't quite get it done.
Those videos don't really do that saw any justice.
It is a slammin' mamma jamma for sure!

Now how did I know you were going to say that. If I had to guess you've never even ran a 7900, I say you're full of it! Hell you can't even tune you're own saws lol, you're a real logger alright.
You make me laugh, I come on here and tell my experience with the 7900 and the attacks begin.

Attack? no. You've made some lofty claims with little to back it up, and you come off as somewone that's here to do one thing, and that's down Dolmar. I've seen this happen with all brands not just Dolmar. A guy comes on here shoot's his mouth off about how bad this or that is, has no proof of what's he's saying, get called on it, he gets mad than goes away. History repeats itself.

What you should have done is say. Hay I've had a few saws fail on me can you guys try and help me figure out why? You would have been received much differently, than just claiming everything Dolmar makes is dog poo.

Serial #0707181198 when I get the other one out of the shop (RD Saw Shop) I'll give you that number. I also have a 5100 serial #091146123 that's been replaced 3 times because it keeps blowing up. Now lets see you said I don't know how to tune a saw because I let the dealer do it, the reason being so there would be no warranty issues. You called me a liar said I wasn't a logger and didn't own a dolmar. If look back you will see that I said I liked the saw that's why I bought the second one thinking that the first one might just have been a bad saw. I will say dolmar has been very good with their warranty. I run these things for a living. We are talking apples and oranges on how you use your saw and I use mine. You keep cutting your cookies out of a tree that you probably didn't even cut down your saw should last forever.

mingo I'm not a Dolmar dealer so I can't do much with the numbers. However I'll reiterate that you came off as someone just trying to down Dolmar, instead of trying to find out why you've had premature failures. That many issues normally mean operator error, in this case it may very well be your dealer tuning the saws too lean because of the rev limiter.

A good example of dealer incompetents is the 5100. Many 5100's came from the factory setup way too lean. Getting the saw to run properly required pulling the limiter caps off of the carb to tune the saw correctly. Most dealers at best will turn the high out as far as it will go and call it a day, this caused many 5100 failures. Do you see what I'm trying to say? You did the same thing three times with the same results. You never found the true cause of the failures, instead you simply blamed the saw.

Losing the crank bearings, scuffing the piston and cylinder tells me lack of lubrication, and or too much heat. Your saws were likely running too lean IMHO.

I also cut this very tree down with the same saw, we were cutting cookies for fun in between bucking.

Oh now the dealer doesn't know how to tune a saw. First of all this thread was about a guy asking for advice on buying a 7901. Since I have logged a lot of hours in the last two years on a 7900. I would give him my take. Then you stuck your nose in, and I have seen this a hundred times on this site they don't like your opinion and they try to discredit you. Then you got all hot and bothered because you thought I was calling you out on being an amateur, which I was not. I was just trying to show that we run saws under completely different conditions and when you do then start trouble shooting. All the stuff your talking is chainsaw 101 don't you think we were aware of it. If we were running lean or operator error dolmar would not of upheld the warranty.

As for the 5100 I bought that saw in 2008 at Boonville New York Woodsman Field Days from DM Shaver who tuned the saw before I took it. If you look around on this site you find a great post he wrote on tuning a 5100. Dan is a great dealer and a good guy. I wished I didn't live 300 miles from him so I could do more business with him. The 5100 had issues that's why they replaced it with the 5105.

I have no way of checking if you did fall the tree. Funny thing you made videos on cookie cutting and none on you falling the tree.

Thanks you for your all advices Guys:cheers: yesterday I bought my another chainsaw-Husky 576XPG with 22"bar and carburetor&handels heating :D Husky was quite cheap, cheaper than PS7900 (DCS7901) so I bought one :)
also in Poland we have a lot of Husky dealers. I'm happy :D
Porobably my next saw will be Dolmar 5010 or 7900 or...Stihl MS261 which will be available in Poland about January 2011:biggrinbounce2:

Good for you nice looking saw.

I've seen this muffler mod before. I just decided to use the deflector that was on an extra 7900 muff I had from a 7900 donation.

You chose...........wisely.

The Dolmars have massive power...but the Husky will continue to run every day for years. I wouldn't be so positive the Dolmar would..if past experience can be projected to remain true.
