Are they both about the same on the playing field?

Reason I ask is I see one near me that I might try and grab for $250 that I see as new.

I really like my 261 but if the price is right then another saw in thise class at the right price might be a good thing.

No need for amonster debate in short are they about the same or in other words is the 5105 close to the 261:confused:

These both are really similar in terms of power output, weight and overall handling. If the 5105 is only $250 I would consider it a no-brainer, if not for anything than just as a backup. Pay no heed to the rabble that would have you believe the 346xp is the cure for cancer and male pattern baldness, even though I'd get one of those for that price also. If you get the 5105 and decide its not to your liking, feel free to PM and I'll gladly :msp_biggrin: take it off your hands.

It would be for back up so that is why the question of how it stacks up performance wise.

Doh ! Why didn't I think to say that ? Good thinking.

We did this on Tuesday and ran A 346XP OE, a Domar 5105, Dolmar 111E, Stihl 026 Pro, and Zenoah 5000. The bars/chains were all different.

The 346, 5000, and 026 were ported and the others stock. The 026 and 111i were at the tail end of this run but were pretty much alike. The 346 and 5000 had square chains and 16" bars and the 5105 had 3/8" chain.

Yesterday, the 346 was number one and the Redmax/Zenoah 5000 was number two with the Dolmar 5105 right in behind them. All I guess what you would call 3 cube saws?

The wood was all I could manage by hand by myself from the pile of logs on hand. I would have liked something bigger and harder.

12" dia dry poplar.

That's very interesting, with the 346 being the old model and 45cc..

Really though, all three are very good saws!

Get the PS-5105 1st Generation (14,500 rpm) version or the PS-5100s

I picked it up today. Will get pictures later.

It is a PS-5105 16" bar safety chain though:frown: and is new never run from the looks of it. Got it for a little less than $250 after haggling:hmm3grin2orange:

Here it is. I am going to try it out tomorrow:clap:
