ooo thats a tough call the 440s a great saw as is the 460 ive run each of them but mostly the 460 i really love the power and the weight but mines far from stock but thats a whole another color of cat but i think id go with the 460 if you plan on putting a longer bar on it say over 25 in

Last weekend a group of us were cutting, clearing and bucking. A 441, 440 and 460 were being used. We had the chance to look at how each saw performed. Bottom line - all of these saws work well. The 460 seemed to be more productive and cut faster than the other saws but it had a full chisel chain. The 440 and 441 had the round chisel chain and performed well but cut less wood. Maybe the 441 ran smoother than the 440 or 460.

I am a bit biased, but would go for the 460. It seemed to have a bit more torque than the 440 or 441. It was a bit thirsty compared to the 441 but cut a lot more wood.

If I could have one of each I would be very happy... Maybe it would be a good idea to have a backup for each too..... CAD attack symptoms.

We also had a 260 pro and 361 on hand. They are excellent saws but were never used.

Are there really still new MS440s on shelves?

I have used both the 440 & 460, did not really notice that much weight difference..
Mind you, I try to use my 660 with a 36" Bar & Chain first, then they both feel light..

Has the OP posted what size he will be cutting on average yet? You cant tell what saw till you know what it will be used for!I am a
Tree Service and I can tell you I don't use the 460 every time we go out.The MS200T is always the first saw then the Husky 346 then the MS440 if needed and only if the logs are over 20-24 and up will we need a bigger saw!You learn after years and years of work lighter is better.I have a 3120 never gets used I just hate sharpening it!
