Winter after next

It was our first nice afternoon in awhile and I had some spare time so I started collecting some small piles I'd split over the winter and began the stack for the winter of 2014-15. Found this little guy under one of the trailside piles - he was not impressed that I was moving his house!

How big is that critter,,,and can ya' use it for fish bait ?

Very cool coloring on that little guy!

He's (or she's?) about 4" long. Goes by the fancy name of "Spotted Salamander". I've never tried using salamanders as bait, but the colouring should be attractive.

We have them here, a big creek runs through our place. Every time I see one I admire the wild camo colors..they just don't even look real do they?
