Barnes/concentric 28gpm. what port is what?

Getting ready to add the hydraulic hoses to my splitter build. but im kinda confused on where the pressure hose hooks up to my barnes 28 gpm pump. I see the inlet and a big hex shaped plug next to that, and on the other side is a plastic plug. im guessing thats where the outlet is but im wondering if i can use the hex plug there and hook the outlet where next to the inlet? so my in an out are on the same side?

not the exact pump i have, mine has a nipple next to the big hex head for the inlet hose but you get the idea what im talking about.

22 and 28 gpm pumps are the D series
Inlet next to the big hex (high stage adjustment screw)...
The outlet only on the opposite side...

I believe the unloader adjustment in under the big hex.
