I just got this from a guy that thought it needed a ring?

He said he had a new P/C a few years ago and the saw didn't seem as good as it used to be....
I think I see why

Looks like the flywheel side bearing went.
The crankshaft moves about 1/8 "
Side to side in the bearing.
You can see the flywheel rubbed the cylinder.
The p/c look nearly new

I have seen posts on aftermarket bearings does anyone have a good source?

Your local auto parts store. However your dealer should be able to get them for less than $10 a peice.

Are both sides generic then?

I've rebuilt quite a few 024/026 but never actually had need to replace bearings on them.

They are different clutch side has a lip that sticks out toward the oiler

I've never rebuilt a 024/026, but I would assume the clutch side is oem only. Still I picked up a oem clutch side Bearing for an 046 and it was $12 from my dealer and the gasket kit which comes with seals and all the gaskets you need should be around $20. So it shouldnt break the bank.

I will probably go to my dealer the am ones worry me they may be Chinese pot metal.

Just out of interest, I priced the 9503 003 0320 (16002) for a Stihl OEM and a generic. Don't know about where you are, but I can get a SKF, NSK or FAG for half the price of the Stihl supplied one.

The clutch side is an OEM proprietary bearing. Here they are around $18.50 plust tax from my dealer. Buy the OEM bearing for that side.
The flywheel side is a 16002 C3 bearing. Buy a reputable bearing like SKF, FAG etc. You'll be fine.

Got my Oem bearings today.
28 bucks for both.
I split the case and the crank is broken in half.
I will post a pic when I get a chance.
Found a crank from a 026 and this just turned into a 024 super.

You will also need a 024S/026 P/C kit (or at least a 024S cylinder) in that case...

I thought the 024S was a 024 p/c with 026 crank for the longer stroke??
Is that wrong?

If you use the 026 crank you will need the matching 024S cylinder as mentioned. Just one of those "Stihl things".
