Ok so I have always burned from a free standing stove and an OWB. I now have the option to put in a insert. I have a Friend that is giving me one he is taking out of his house. I have never installed on of these. What is needed to put this in my fireplace. Chimney liner is new and everything is in good shape.

Thanks

Check your local ordinances. You will need an inspection for homeowners insurance. We installed one last year. I'm glad I paid to get it done. Snaking the liner down the chimney took them 2.5 hours of the 3 hour install.

If the liner is there you just need the appropriate adapter for the stove and the appropriate chimney cap. I had to get a hearth extender as mine was installed as far forward as we could get it. The inspector knew the installers and all he did was measure the hearth extender (minimum 16" from the face of the stove). He was only at the house 10 minutes and most of that time was BSing with the installers.

A handy trick I picked up watching the installer was using 1/4" dowels to roll the stove into the fireplace area ... easy-peasy.
