Over revving for long periods of time can sometimes lead to ring flutter which weakens the piston and causes the piston to break between the rings.
And too lean would let it over rev.Over revving for long periods of time can sometimes lead to ring flutter which weakens the piston and causes the piston to break between the rings.
Gas tank and cylinder ok!
Sad end to a good saw, rip 460!Cylinder was fine. Not even a broken fin, but the tank, both crankcase halves, starter, were all toast.
It was a big Bobcat.
Oh yes!Did you get to take that 460 home? Id keep that, there are just so many parts that are salvageable. Id take every screw off that carcass, by the time i was done it would look like the Thanksgiving turkey
Don't buy your seals and gaskets individually. Order the "set of gaskets". It'll come with everything you need and save you some money.
Them screws are expensive.Did you get to take that 460 home? Id keep that, there are just so many parts that are salvageable. Id take every screw off that carcass, by the time i was done it would look like the Thanksgiving turkey
Are those plating chips above and below the ex port, or is that an illusion?
Out the muffler!Combination of illusion and some carbon because of the angle of the pic. Other than the vertical streaks, nothing looks unusual, which surprises me given that there was a 3/4" long piece of piston that had to go somewhere, lol. I'm guessing it went into the muffler & previous owner or a shop pulled the muff and found it. Who knows.
He SLAMMED it down first! LolWho ever diagnosed it before you looked in there, then nailed the lid on the coffin.
