From what I have read most parts interchange, so is the added 1/2lb just from the bigger cylinder and piston? Seems a bit much.

Maybe a little extra weight in the Cat-muffler too?

e-tech and NE and OE etc. OE and NE is pretty much settled at 11.4lbs Only the green cap cat ones weight more. So only a .2 to .4 of a oz different in oe ne. Bottom pic OE

Awesome, thanks for the pics.
You don't happen to have 372xp's to weigh too do you?

That's what I thought, but didn't have the evidence to back it up. They're basically the same saw with different displacement and added the purge bulb.

Most weightings I have seen indicate that the weight difference between the OE and the NE was/is less than indicated in specs, close to zero in most cases - but there also are exceptions.
It is of course possible that the early production OE saws were lighter than the late production ones? That has happened with some saw models.

Well I finally got around to weighing my saws for comparison. I am reasonably surprised. Both 026 and 044 (single felling spikes) substantially lighter than the 346 and 372xp. I am also a firm believer that personal ergonomic comfort overides minor changes in weight.
Also thanks to ArboristSite since I bought both saws here and stayed well inside budget.

First picture is of my early'ish 026. I wanted to see how much difference fuel/oil made, so with 1/3 tank of oil and 1/2 tank of gas - 11lb 6.3oz or 11lb 6 oz for scientific people

Now empty (or as much as 30 seconds of dumping allowed, definitely a small amount of oil left) - 10lb 13.8 oz

And finally early 10mm 044 empty (with residual) 13lb 4.6oz

So
Early 026 vs 346xp = 10lb 13 oz vs 11lb 4 oz = 4.9kg - 5.1kg
Early 044 vs 372xp non-xtorq = 13lb 4 oz vs 14lb 4 oz = 6kg - 6.4kg

FYI - my cheap (but clean) beater Poulan Pro 5020av that I paid $50 for weighs 13lb 1oz - 5.9kg

Hands on there is probably precious little difference in the field. I have never used a any husky besides a friend's 450.
Any weight savings is a plus in my book, but that won't stop me from picking up these husky's if the price is right (and I have extra money... probably the rate limiting step)

Now I need to find an 064...

Thanks for all the info.

Just seeing what I have saved on my HD on the 5020 to compare to your weight shown.
Think Mark had weighed this one when they came out.

Well I had to double check after seeing that. Mine is still right at 13lb without the tool in the handle or 10oz difference. Maybe if that was weighed out of the box, mine definitely had residue in it. Or maybe they changed the manufacturing to make them more or less porky?

One of these days I am going to have to get a complete list of all the saw weights that you have.
