Any of the McCulloch 10 Series would certainly be a good choice; 10-10 @54 cc, 10-10S or PM55/550 @57 cc, SP60 or PM60 @ 60 cc, 4-10, 5-1, 6-10, 7-10 or PM 700 @70 cc with a rigid mount or CP70/SP70 for 70 cc anti-vibe, SP80/81/81E/PM850, PM800/805 are all common anti-vibe 82cc saws that will impress you today.

Poulan 3700 and 5200/5400/8500 are also quite impressive. Pay no attention to Modified Mark, he is just trying to keep all the non-McCulloch saws to himself.

I've been searching for poulans and macs so far, only seen a bunch of wild things and eager beavers. The 10 series and other larger models are out there, but the sellers seem to think price inflation applies to used equipment too...

No Alpinas, but I did see a cool Ford branded chainsaw. Wonder who made that?

Sachs Dolmar 112, 119, 120 is going have to fit in there somewhere.
I have owned one of just about everything then built, and these saws perform and last.

Those are excellent saws IMHO, I still use a 120SI for all my firewood duties. Easy to work
on, More power than there competitors size for size in that era. I still have quite a few of
them. 112, 114, 119, 120SI, are what I have currently. Need to find a nice clean 117.

Love the 116si...120si
6000i 6800i all great saws ...Just don't run mine enough...ps. I like to flood them starting if its been a while .. :)

Lol it seems like all dolmars flood. I always forget to flip the kill switch and after just a pull or two that dang thing is saturated.

What was the predessesor to the 7900?
