Had to do full teardown for 1 $10 carbon stuck ring. Take a gander at the bottom end engine case. It's plastic. I guess the question is if deformity will happen over time with heat and torque?
I don't care for this style saw, but the plastic holds up just fine.
There are better models with metal cases to chose from.
Older 353 / 346xp Newer 545 / 550xp
Yep, got several xps. They are in fact metal. I'm just thinking plastic becomes ductile at a much lower temperature than metal. I guess time will tell.
And I'm not trying to downgrade anything or anybody. It's just a eye opener for a 35 yr engine guy. This stuck ring was pure carbon stuck, 60psi on the comp test.
