i personally hate the smell of the Bur Oak we have around here. the smoke burns my nose and eyes very badly. much prefer anything but Cottonwood or Boxelder smoke

Alright peeps, when I burn wood I get this stange acrid smell. Not a nice smokey smell, but a sharp unpleasant acrid smell. Any one know what it could be? I burn well seasoned oak. Pipe is clean, just had it done before the burn season. And if you've experienced it before, can you give me some tips? I would like my neighbors to stay friendly.

Stop eating so much chilly before you fire up the stove.

First you may want to double check temps as many thermometers are variable or off - Try an IR gun - like from Harbor freight - Also, This is always the best double check for vehicles vs the gauge or sensor reading...

does not help you on the smell though ;)
