038 Mag filter

Hi all,has anyone got a better idea for the crappy filter?
Or just put up with it.
Even thought about a v stack and start it with a bit of fuel down the neck.
I would like to keep the filter cover so I don't know if it could be slotted to fit the stack?

I went with the stainless mesh filter and have no complaints. Did require a little trimming on the surround of plastic flange that mates with the carb. Flows really well and keep all butthe finest dust out. Could place some foam inside the cover to help with the fine dust

Yup, stock replacement stainless mesh filter. Snagged it off ebay for $12

No problem! It took a while to find one that wasn’t the ‘flocked’ style filter.

As previously stated if you are in very dry/dusty conditions I would use some thin high flowing foam around the filter to catch the really fine dust. In my opinion it will still flow AND filter better than the flock filter.

I don't like the wire mesh filters as the saw will ingest fines. Just my 2 cents......

I’ve heard other people say the same thing. I know some ATV/Dirtbike guys use pantyhose over high flow filters as a prefilter since the “sheer” of the pantyhose is very good at keeping dust from sticking to it. Worth a try!
