I called my local shihl dealer and ordered a new bar, chain and sprocket for my ms290. They had them in stock and I put them on will call. I jump in the truck for what should have been a 15 min drive, that do to construction took me almost an hour. Got trapped on the freeway and forced to go down 3 exits only to see a wreck right in front of me and they blocked the road and wouldn't move. I finally made it to the store only to see 10 people standing in line at the parts counter. I asked someone if the had a will call counter so I could just pick up parts and go. But NOOOOO! they said I had to stand in line. Well shat! So I stand there for about 15/20 min only to hear the counter man talking about BBQ'ing and fishing and not getting the parts out. They were just jabbering on and on about nothing. Geez, if you want to socialise, go to a bar like everyone else. I finally left without my parts. I called the guy that took my order and jumped is butt.
Thats why I called ahead, to make sure the parts were in stock and so they could have them ready for me to pick up.
Two hours later I finally got home with zero parts and pissed off.
I told him I would never buy there again. And I guaranty you I wont. I have another place that has the parts thats the same distance but in the opposite direction.
Normally I'm pretty chill about stuff, but that just burns my butt.
It was Brookside Equipment by the way.

Preaching to the choir. I can’t stand it when people in the costumer service line of work forget about the service part of there job. Any one of the sales persons at the should have noticed the costumers backing up and helped in some way. Even if it meant grabbing a mechanic from the back to help with the rush.

There’s no excuse besides piss poor management.

I really like my dealer, Murphy Outdoor Power. You can go in anytime and the shop floor is full of saws, weedeaters, mowers. Those boys never stop working, or talking. By quiting time, everything that has been brought in is fixed and waiting for pickup. Everytime a piece is fixed, they pick up the phone and call the owners to let the know their tool is ready for pickup. If you are in a bind, they have been known to drop what they are working on and take care of you right then and there while you wait. If you have to leave something for more than a day or two its because they are waiting on parts. They sell Sthil and Husquvarna .

That's what you call service!

I find as I get older if the parts people are rude I just don't go back and if there is another place even if it is more of a drive I just go there. I find myself buying a lot of parts off the internet unless I need it today. I do all my own work so I usually don't have to deal with service people.

I'm the same way. If I have options I will boycott a place if I have good reason. I didn't need the parts that day and I can still work with the stack of old chains and bars that I have. I just wanted to grab some new parts so I would have them on hand when needed. I'm shopping the web for a good place to just order my stuff on line. I have no problem with ordering long before I actually need stuff.
