I am new to the site and fairly new to cutting wood. By that I mean we just started heating with wood this winter and of course we cutting our own wood.
Normally I am a Stihl person but just recently bought a used Husqvarna 61 that hasn't been started in a few years. Was told once it warms up it starts hard too. Came with a 16" Oregon bar and chain and a fairly good 20" Husqvarna bar, gotta get a chain for it.
So got it home and started tinkering and cleaning it up to see what the issue(s) were. Well after getting dang nert a cool whip bowl of crap out of everywhere I pulled the muffler to look at the piston & jug. It has some scoring but figured why not try. Compression is decent, it holds itself somewhat while holding the pull rope handle.
So anyway after MANY pulls we got it to kinda sputter. It finally started, we adjusted the carb some and it runs pretty good for a 1994 saw that looks as if nothing had been done to it other than gas, oil and cutting.
