Homelite xl101 exhaust

Have a Homelite xl101 that is a great little saw, but holy cow is it loud! Will any newer/quieter Homelite exhaust fit this saw? My Super EZ Auto is way more tolerable, would exhaust from that model fit xl101? ....I'm too lazy to switch them to see if it would work....lol

Yes there is the soft tone muffler that they put on the xl 102,103,etc. saws. I have a service memo that talks about replacing the stack exhaust with the new muffler.

Yep, those early 101's are super loud, same muffler on mine, mufflers from the same series later on would work (xl102, 103, 104 ect.).

The cast aluminum ‘muffler’ is small mostly due to Homelite not wanting it to stick out past the clutch cover.

The tin muffler is the same deal but only a tad quieter.

So sounds like even the tin muffler is still pretty loud? Like I said love this little saw, but the wood pile beside the house is like 15' from the neighbor

Of course I never speak to those neighbors anyways.....
