Outdoor Power Specialists/TYM tractor has just won over my business for as long as they exist. The owner of the business is awesome! I just today drove 60 miles round trip to pick up a brake handle for my Husky 450, and to my frustration the brake handle I bought was not the same as the one I needed. The mounting holes on the new brake are a larger diameter then my mounting screws. So anyway, I called OPS, and vented a bit....I explained to the guy...who just happened to be the owner, that I called before I drove 30 miles there, and 30 miles back, to make sure they had what I needed. The guy told me to bring back the handle, and he would make it right....I just had no idea how right he was gonna make it. I drove back to the dealership, and showed him the receipt, and the new, and old brake handle. He took the number off the old handle and fiddled on the computer for a few minutes. He told me that Husky for some reason changed handles a few years ago, I do think if I had the right bolts the handle I was sold today would have worked. Anyway he handed me $40 for a brake handle I only paid $28 for earlier, and told me he ordered the correct handle for me free of charge. After that I felt bad for being rude over the phone.

Not sure what sort of comment you are looking for. I can see that he has behaved in a way to be your dealership of choice however the Husqvarna chainsaws have serial number ranges for their illustrated parts lists. Have you taken the effort to see if the part number was sold to you and told you would work before you drove is the one on the parts list for the serial number range of your saw? It is not like Stihl that does not make public their parts sheets. Do I read between the lines that he hires help that does not properly look us stuff? Maybe next time bring the part that needs replacing? Is the part getting drop shipped to you?

Not looking for any comment, just showing appreciation, where it's due. Hopfully my post helps the guy get more business, because he deserves it. I have not seen this level of CS for a long time, and I for one appreciate it. I mean 9 out of 10 places would have told me to suck it. When I called, I never expected to be actually taken care of....I expected to be told something along the lines of.....were sorry about the inconvenience, bring the handle back for a refund.....no...this guy went above and beyond. And people that go above and beyond in this day and age deserve to be recognised for it. No they aren't drop shipping it to me, I have to go pick it up, but that's fine.
In my defence, I was ignorant to the fact that there was multiple brake handles for this saw, I know now, and in the future I will use the serial number of the saw, or part number off the part being replaced, to order parts from them, as needed.

One must compare the old part to the new part. I’m collecting the “SE” older husky saws and the changes that husky made in the different versions even with the air cleaners. Everything is different in some cases. Engineering changes happen during the production runs seems common with huskys. Chances of finding new parts for the older saws is slim.

Good you found a dealer who made it right.

I gave my husky dealer an air filter with the part number stamped on it and he said that number means nothing and he needs the exact year of my saw.....

Your dealer is an idiot of the part number means nothing, find another dealer, I do business with 2 great dealers, 1 old school no computer, and 1 newer and booth can find any part I need if I supply the part number, even if the number is out dated, it supercedes to the newer number.

Oh I know I was holding my tongue trying not to say something pissy to them....I just bought my things and smiled.

All that stuff is available online. Here is one site...

However, that site shows the same hand guard part number for all the 450 production runs. Is that the one they ordered?
Not sure if you can make that statement as the earliest model is quite incomplete as to the sections available there and on Bailey's
