You dont need a hole. The fireplace is operational right? Just use flex or Tee with cleanout.

Been burning for over 24hrs and zero issues so I think I got this thing solved. I am able to get fresh air from the basement garage door located about 15ft away. Thanks for the suggestions. I feel like a dummy not realizing my stove would draw so much air from that fireplace chimney.

I'd question the sharing of a common flue between a wood burner and furnace, I've always thought they should be separate.
They are but I have a CO detector downstairs and upstairs just in case.
Not that it wont work fine but I think it's just against building code to have a wood appliance in the same chimney as another appliance.

I'd guess building code requires them to be separate, good call on the CO detector....saved my ass years ago running a genset outside with a woodstove pulling the CO into the house from the outside.
