Splitter wings

I decided to weld some wings on my wedge to make it a 4-way, since 99% of the wood I have left needs split into quarters at least. I ran about 2 cords through it today and it seems to work fairly well, although I have noticed some friction/drag between the beam and underside of the wings.

do your wings angle slightly up hill so that the wood has room to expand as it runs thru the wedges?

Unfortunately no.... because I wasn’t thinking when I welded them on. But now I know for the next one I build

Odog, a little squirt of a few drops of oil really helps. I use used oil on my splitter table when doing my OWB wood.
