1/2” plywood and six 1-1 1/4 inch roofing nails.

Borrow your 5th grader’s compass and draw a circle 1/16” smaller than the housing. Drive the nails in equal spaced tangent to the circle. Wind the spring into the ‘fence’. Clamp with chain nose vice grips and remove three adjacent nails. Drop in in the housing.

Looks like you need to tighten up the starter rope some and idle It up a bit. The motor is kicking back when you shut it off.

Steve

That one of the issues I’ve been having with it. I’ll give it a try. But the rope is the 54” the manual calls for.

We use zip ties to hold the spring together.

Thanks for the reply, I appreciate it! So as it turns out, I think the module itself is actually good, it just needs a new ignition wire soldered onto the the piece that broke off near the base of the module. So here is another question, do you happen to know what size or kind of wire matches up to this module so I can pick up some to solder the two together? Thanks for the help as always!!!

Any modern day stranded wire with pvc jacket insulation will work, looks like a 16 gage -2/64” insulation was used on mine. Good for 600V.

Use rosin core solder 60/40 mix tin/lead for electronics. Clean the old wire stubs up with brake cleaner, be sure & get all the oil cleaned off.

Flux & tin both of the ends first, won’t take much solder or heat & don’t forget to heat shrink it.

1/4"x1/8" line I used. That's 1/8 inside, 1/4 outside
Picked up some 1/8 x 1/4 Tygon fuel line today, but it was still too small and didn't seal perfectly where it enters the tank.

3/16 x 5/16 is the correct size, I use a little longer than the book says, I cut mine to 9 1/2 with a long taper to get it thru the hole from the tank side then cut square and pull 3 5/8 out and hook to carb
Thanks! I wasn't actually able to find the 3/16 x 5/16 locally, so looks like I'll need to order some online.

Second that on the 3/16x 5/16. Just replaced mine last month. Real PIA. I bought 6 foot of hose. Sliced 1 foot( wasted) and rolled it up to get it to slide into the tank. Might as well replace the filter too while your in there.
I plan to replace the filter - it's pretty grungy looking and I suspect it may be leading to some of the behavior I'm seeing from the saw. Tried to get a replacement 'sock' for the filter, but it ended up being too large. Anyone have a part number for a replacement filter which will work -- preferably one that's not made of plastic :)
