We brought the kids home to see the grandparents for Easter and today dad and I were working at the farm. He told me I could have my grandfather's 2 saws. I never remember the old Mac being used but I sure have a lot of memories of the 61. Up until I left home in 2000, dad and pop burned wood in outdoor furnaces. We probably burned 10-12 cords of wood per year. I helped once I was around 12 up until I left for college. Pop was still cutting wood up into his 70s. That 61 was the first saw I ever ran. Dad said it was running when they put it up a while back but i haven't tried it yet. I'm going to start another thread on it. It's getting restored. The McCulloch is a Powermac 6. It's not locked up, I'll probably try and get it going as well.

Wow they are dirty but I bet they will clean up nice and look great, I own a 61 that I bought new in about 1981, kinda wore out but it still runs great.

Bar looks a bit long on the mac 6? Funny how much bigger that little saw sounds compared to newer ones.

I've a some what fuzzy manual for it if you need one.

Use mine quite often as it is a convenient size and having proper dawgs makes it great for limbing.

Think this was before I fixed the recoil the second time.

Starting it: full choke, when started switch to half until warm, the off and you are good to go.

Yours looks to have the manual oiler like mine.

The bar on the McCulloch is a skinny 16" I believe. The bar on the 61 is a 16" as well. Most of the firewood cutting i remember doing with this one was cutting up large tops from hardwood clearcuts.

They are both the same length?

I was seeing 2 tailgate panels on your 6 and 1-1/2 on your 61. Optical illusion I guess.

I have a few PM6's around myself. My father had one in the mid 70's he used for firewood. He worked that saw like it was a 10-10 and it kept going. One of the biggest issues I have found when working on them is if you pull the fuel tank to work on anything you will have a hard time getting it to seal again once you put it back on. I ended up using nitrile O rings around the end where it goes into the carb to stop the leaks.
