I have a 3003 mount duromatic 84dl 25" bar but the slot is a little bit bigger than my other 3003 mount bars. So it's a little WIGGLY... Is there a reason?

Not sure.

Are you sure it’s not a 3002? How worn are your bar studs? How worn is the bar?

My only Duromatics are 3002. They fit normally, but they’re basically new.

Here's it directly on top of another 3003 mount bar. It's like 2mm bigger... Regular 3003 bar fits tight this one is just a little sloppy. It works fine oils and everything just a little larger.

The really old Duromatic bars used on the 07s, 08s, S10 etc, had 14mm wide slots. The older saws had bar studs with 14mm bosses and 10mm threads. One of my Duromatic bars has the older stihl log logo engraved, with the 1107 part number and date engraved. Maybe when they went to the 3003 part number they kept the larger slot for the larger saws.

My later 3003 Duromatic bar has the 12mm slot.

I can't find anything on that 3003 000 9218 part number on the internet. So it must be an old bar like you say. This came from fleabay listed with a different bar number (the correct one). Guess I'll have to make a shim or see if my dealer has any of those springs for the bar studs.

I'm using this with a carbide chain for this big nasty oak stump that I can't move with the backhoe yet...

In the interest of trying to sort this out, looked up what would be a 3003 000 9218 bar in my 2006 Bar and Chain Manual, and got the numbers from my Duromatic bars.

The last two numbers '..18' in the bar info is the bar length code, but Stihl didn't use that '18' code in the 2006 manual. Maybe they changed codes after 2006: the way the bar info is bordered may indicate the bar is more modern.

I have a 25" 12mm slot 3003 000 2231 Duromatic dated 11.79, and the '..31' does correspond to Stihl's bar length code. My more modern Duromatic is an 18" 12 mm slot 3003 000 8617, which matches codes.

My older 15 inch dated 5.66 and 17 inch 11.68 "pre-Duromatics" both have the 14mm slot.

I found reference to the 3003 000 9217 part number in a 2016 catalog but I don't know if that says much. The 9217 is a 20" duromatic in .063 but I doubt it has a 14mm slot!

Alright, I finally measured the slot on the bar. It's no 14mm, it's .512" (only have a dial standard caliper) - so 13mm!!??!?!?! wtf
