im moving right along. I’m honing the cylinder. Next pull the flywheel and split the case. The crank bearings and seals just arrived, time to port the cylinder. Install a comp release. One thing at a time. Lots of work to be done yet. Did I miss anything?

The hard chrome cylinders don’t open much at all when honing. I mic’d the piston clearance it’s about .002” still tight enough.

My gaskets went mia, can’t find my center case gasket, had to order more pics to follow soon.

Pics,,,, new bearings spin so easy.

Next it’s porting the cylinder and rebuilding the carb.

Update.

I purchased it, it’s a oem husky tool. Each saw takes a different assembly tool some use the same tool. I bought most of them.

Time to port my 1200 muffler. It has the top opening and I want to add the square jungle port on the lower front. Do you think a nibbler on a drill would work? Then I’ll use rivet nuts for the four screws.

The the carb needs rebuilding, the rear handle needs fuel line and gas filter. The oil line and oil filter.

Parts.
New piston, used excellent cylinder, ported
Crank bearings and seals, excellent crank
New gaskets
Ported muffler
New clutch, drum, 404 rim bearing, new clutch seal to pump.
Rebuilt recoil starter.
New iso motor mounts.

I keep on getting side tracked I have three things left, port the muffler, plug the governor, advance the timing. I increased the air flow to the air box.

Looking good Bill

Not a single cylinder pic? Teaser.

It’s ported and all together I’ll post the cylinder pic, ported and polished, lowered the intake and raised the exhaust. This is a good used cylinder. I have new AM cylinders in stock from Italy. There on eBay. I have oem husky nib cylinder kits for 285, 570/575, 372.
