These 4 all ran with just gas, and pics of the 925. What is up with the clutch cover? Looks.like the clutch cut a hole through it at some point. Is that common?

If your interested in that little 150 as a project I'll hand deliver it. I'm set on getting the 111 buttoned up with seals and carb kit and lines. Might look for a 1050 to keep it company when I'm done if you know of any. Think I'm becoming addicted to big old saws.

We need to set a date to meet at Clarence's to do some climbing and cutting, hold on to it till then. Unless you can sell it, then take the money and run.
 
Well, on the 925 there are two screws in the face of the clutch that back out and cut the perfectly round hole when they go unnoticed. Even the used cover I got has a groove in it from those screws that is't quite a hole yet.you can see the screws on the clutch in this pic. On yours, I'm not sure. One of the springs maybe????

I'm looking for crank seal numbers for super XL 925, super XL automatic, and regular super XL. Nobody local to me has seals for my old Pioneer 600 so I figured if I have to pay $12 for shipping I may as well order a bunch in one shot and make it worth it.
Looking for off the shelf numbers like SKF/CR or National.
 
Also, is there a write up anywhere on taking apart an XL2? Thinking mine has some carb issues or fuel line issues but I've never worked on a top handle before and it seems sort of complex.

Pull the recoil and side handle off, take the spark plug out, disconnect the kill wire, take out the four bolts on the top and bottom of the cover holding the engine in place and slide it out being aware of how the throttle linkage connects..., there are a couple variations with the simplest just disconnecting from the carb and staying attached to the trigger assembly. The tanks should come out with the engine still attached to the oiler and carb....for the most part.

All good Poge. Kevin has the numbers for the Pioneer 600. I was not able to find a direct replacement for Homelite 58308

If you mean the oil fill hole is on top on the drive case just ahead of the front handle bracket, the seals are the same as the Super XL auto.

CR 6119, 5120 and National Timken 253747 on the FW side and 58308A or B on the clutch side.
 
Is the oiler adjustable on a Super XL automatic? I have one that does not have a manual backup and it seems a bit stingy on oil for my liking.

No they don't. It should puke enough oil to defoliate your yard.Most common issues are dirty or stuck check valves (Listed in the IPL's ) or compression fittings that are leaking air.

Super XL's are also known for bad in tank oil pickup lines. Hard to believe they'd go bad after only 40 years.
