Would I be alright running the 50:1 (stihl oil)fuel mix I use in my newer saw in this old R16, or should I go with the recommended 25:1? I've heard as long as it's a high quality oil it's ok since most of the old recommendations were with motor oil.

I run 32:1 in all my saws new and old.

I think yes...but then, it's not my saw! :D
Jokes aside, Electrolux sold their own Husqvarna and Partner branded 50:1 oil in 1985. No-one said then, "Don't mix it at 50:1 in old saws.", so I think today's Stihl oil should be fine at the same ratio.
That said, where you are, I'm guessing there's a good chance you've got access to metric containers, which to me, makes it easier to mix different ratios on the fly if you so choose.
E.g. I only think in whole percentages.
2%, 20ml per litre (50:1)
3%, 30ml per litre (33:1 - actually 33&1/3:1 if you're picky)
4%, 40ml per litre (25:1)
So if I want to be cautious with a particular engine, I pour 500ml of 2% mix into a bottle, add 5ml of oil and shake, and I've got 33:1.

Most new saw failures are bottom end bearings. Just saying

Probably because the carb is set too lean, plus the mix isn’t oil rich enough. If we look at the older saws there still running like the older mccullochs. They’ll be around forever.

Plus they didn’t have the CAD stress annalsys program to figure the strengths or weaknesses back then everything was over built. Is the stats we get from the computer right today.? The product reliability isn’t what it once was in some cases. But we must factor in the number of saws produced and the small number of failures. Now factor in the operator error too. I don’t have the right oil but I’ll use this other brand, being in a rush.

I Want to get as long with these as I can. Ill just get another jug and mix up some 32:1 and feed the beasts.

I pulled the top cover off of the R16, its dated April 1968. This old stuff amazes me. Built to last.

I'm trying to figure out the chain and bar size. I'd like to pick up one of those Partner bars above, just want to make sure it'll fit. I looked up the bar info on the net but couldnt come up with anything. Maybe one of you gents would know more? This is whats on the bar.

I wish we had a pioneer/ Partner or partner guru here. I purchased five of these new Partner bars that came with the roller replacement roller noses. My question is we’re these the orginal bars? I have many partner 50 cc saws under different numbers. I’m thinking some are .325” chain and others are 3/8” chain. Is there a listing on Partner chainsaws that tells us what size chain they ran? I know the pioneer/Partner 400 is 325” chain. Any thoughts or advise. I like my huskys but the yellow bumble bees got my attention. I think the toaster saws are neat.

Guess I've just got to buy one of each and figure it out! The wife will love that... Lol

Both my 5000s and my 400 are .325. I use that acresinternet website and it tells you what it would have originally had, as long as no one changed it at some point.

So far everything I've found locally is the 50-55CC range. They are heavy, but fun to cut with. Putting that R16 into some wood, knowing my father and his before him used that model in the woods was special.

i have many partner saws. The little 400 is a screamer. I found the air filters for the 50 cc partners in Italy. I don’t know where to get parts. I just picked up another 50 cc partner the po said it won’t run. The top of the sparkplug was broken off. She has good compression and should run. Most of these older saws will run with some tlc.

The first time I seen a partner saw was at the local fair speed cutting. A Swedish logger had his daughter competing with us. The pretty gal whooped us all the crowd went crazy. We all laughed.

The 15" bars in the eBay ad are numbered 371115. Lots of info here

and on GB bar finder

The fella selling these doesn't know what they fit. I'd like to have one for the R16 (the 18 inch preferably)but want to be sure they would fit. I can get a proper chain as long as the bolt pattern matches up.

In truth, any old-style Partner gurus are probably dead. I do not pretend to be one.

After being acquired by Electrolux, Partner products had to be satisfied with whatever market space their new owners would allow them to occupy. This is just a fact, not a criticism. Husqvarna was the No.1 brand in the group and EMAB management tried a lot of ways to differentiate each brand from it's brothers.
My own assessment is that outside of Scandinavia, Partner had been well accepted in areas where they were enthusiastically represented, and where the climate was cold. Two examples of this were the Pacific Northwest in USA and the southern parts of the state of Victoria in Australia. Electrolux in Melbourne took over distribution from the family of the previous enthusiatic, knowledgeable, and famously one-armed Mr Lipp. A few years later the Service Department of Husqvarna Australia in Sydney, took over responsibilty for Partner from Electrolux Australia in Melbourne, and as the manager of that department, I found myself suddenly also responsible for these yellow and black machines.

Now. Re Bar mounts, chain types and original bars.
Apart from a few hobby and electric saws, there are 2 mounts, as mentioned in the next post.
These lists are from GB website.

They all look right to me. There are only really 2 mount patterns for Swedish-made partners. The 400/5000/5000 use the small European mount(Oregon A095) usually with .325 chain, and all the larger saws use the mount that look like the ones in the pictures above (Oregon D010) with 2 sets of tensioner holes (the reason for which I can't remember) or according to Oregon. they can also use a standard Husqvarna mount (Oregon D009).

If you're in doubt, is there a Windsor online catalog you can refer to?

Thanks. Google has been less than helpful with these part numbers. Just a mass of useless info. One of the part numbers on the 16 inch almost matches up exactly with the one you linked on chainsawr so it should be ok.

If the 3 starter screws are missing, check that the threads aren't stripped.
I don't have any genuine screws. Like most Partner screws, they're M4 with 8mm heads.
As for the length, in the R440T & P100 IPL they're listed as 245176 (Electrolux Motor part number 505 24 51-76) which is the same part as the 2 rearmost screws in the rear handle.
IPLs here: https://store.chainsawr.com/blogs/illustrated-part-lists/1119882-partner-illustrated-part-lists

The bolt hole in the tank is the tank vent. Hopefully someone here knows what it's supposed to look like.
